How we estimate your savings
When you enter your address, we look up your roof using high-resolution satellite imagery and solar irradiance data. That gives us your roof's usable surface area, orientation, pitch, and the number of panels that physically fit — so the system size and yearly energy figures reflect your actual roof, not a rule of thumb.
For savings, we look up the utility rate for your ZIP code from our editable rate table (defaulting to a blended $0.16/kWh for the Phoenix metro, covering both APS and SRP territories). We then calculate how many kilowatt-hours your system produces per year, apply your chosen bill-offset percentage, and multiply by the rate to get your annual savings.
System cost assumes an installed price of $2,800/kW — a typical Phoenix range for Tier-1 panels with microinverters. We apply the 30% federal residential clean energy tax credit to get your net cost, then divide by first-year savings for the payback period. We also model 4% annual rate inflation over the 25-year system life and subtract a 85% DC-to-AC derate for inverter, soiling, and wiring losses.
This is an estimate, not a quote. Your final numbers depend on a site survey, your actual usage history, financing choice, and roof condition. Request a free estimate for a firm, custom design.
